TI Korea (CEO Kent Jeon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) January 9, 2014 – TI Korea (CEO Kent Jeon) announced the provision of a general-purpose solution for streaming audio. This rigorously tested, integrated, and optimized solution helps customers accelerate time-to-market for streaming audio application products, such as portable speakers, soundbars, audio-video receivers (AVRs), and connectivity modules that add connectivity capabilities to speaker sets. Visitors can experience TI's streaming audio solution firsthand at Booth N117 at CES 2014, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Providing “one-stop shopping” for everything you need for streaming audio
TI’s system solutions provide “one-stop shopping” for streaming audio applications, helping customers accelerate time-to-market and reduce production costs and risks:

• This system utilizes the Sitara™ AM335x processor, an ARM® Cortex®-A8-based solution widely used in various markets. Providing performance ranging from 300 MHz to 1 GHz, TI’s AM335x processor supports multiple streaming protocols, such as AirPlay and DLNA, as well as various audio post-processing protocols on a single chip. Additionally, this processor can be used as an application host processor. This allows OEMs to leverage enhanced features at a lower cost using fewer chips.
• This streaming audio solution integrates TI’s WiLink™ 8 combo connectivity solution, providing the latest high-performance Wi-Fi and Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity capabilities.
o By using 2x2 MIMO and MRC (maximum ratio combining) receivers, excellent Wi-Fi performance and extended range are enabled.
Wi-Fi Direct and multi-role features enable simultaneous network access and allow peer-to-peer streaming on different channels.
The Bluetooth SIG-certified dual-mode Bluetooth and BLE stack supports an extended list of profiles.
• For high-end streaming devices requiring support for Dolby Digital and DTS decode algorithms, Aureus™ high-performance audio DSPs can be adopted, and customized audio post-processing can be added.
• TI’s AIC3206 audio codec can be adopted for audio output, and the overall system power consumption can be minimized by using the TPS650250 power management IC.
This solution is compatible with TI's Sitara Linux software development kit (SDK), making programming simple, and will include an add-on supporting AirPlay in the first half of 2014.

Support for various types of streaming services
Consumers can connect all portable and home connected audio devices that support AirPlay and DLNA through TI's comprehensive audio streaming solutions. TI's solution is the first general-purpose system solution to support AirPlay, enabling the transmission of streaming audio content from iOS devices to remote speakers or TVs. Additionally, DLNA support enables streaming between devices supporting Android, Windows, and OS X operating systems, and also supports major internet radio services.
