Jetson Edge AI Platform Delivers Superior Embedded Computing Performance

Katken, a member of NVIDIA Inception, NVIDIA's startup support program, has started to shine.

NVIDIA announced on the 2nd that NVIDIA Jetson has been installed in Cartken's delivery service robots.

According to ABI Research, robotic last-mile delivery systems are expected to grow more than ninefold from $70 million in 2022 to $670 million in 2030.

Founded in 2019, Katken unveiled robots as a service that deliver coffee and food along the road and quickly deployed them to some customer applications, including Starbucks and Grubhub.

Katken is one of the recently surging NVIDIA Jetson-powered autonomous mobile robot (AMR) startups, which are advancing across agtech, manufacturing, retail, and last-mile delivery.

Katken provides Robots as a Service (RaaS) to customers on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The NVIDIA Jetson Edge AI platform provides the exceptional embedded computing performance required to run Katken's advanced AI algorithms.

In addition, the robot can operate all day on a single battery charge.

The six mounted cameras support mapping and navigation with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, which measures physical distance traveled and is a wheel odometer.

Katken's robot uses Jetson to perform simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and automatically builds the necessary surrounding map.

"It has Level 4 autonomy based on visual processing," said Chris Bursch, CEO of Katken. "The advantage of our navigation is that since it works both indoors and outdoors, GPS is optional, and it can determine location purely based on visual functions."

Meanwhile, Katken is a member of NVIDIA Inception, a program that supports startups through GPU technology, software, and business development support.
