TI Launches Industry's First Discrete Serial Link Aggregator Supporting Up to 10Gbps Data Rate

TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) January 16, 2014 – TI announced the launch of the industry's first 10Gbps serial link aggregator IC. With the TLK10081 supporting 1 to 8 channels and the TLK10022 supporting dual channels, system designers can reduce the number of gigabit serial links used in communications, video, imaging, and various other products. These ICs aggregate and de-aggregate point-to-point serial data streams transmitted over backplanes, copper cables, and optical links. Using TI aggregator ICs allows customers to save cost and time required for developing custom aggregator IP to support high-performance FPGAs or ASICs that require aggregators. These products occupy 70% less space than FPGAs and require only 2 power rails, compared to FPGAs which require 5 to 6 rails. TI serial link aggregator ICs enable direct connection of data converters and processors via serial links in applications such as wireless network devices, location, routers, video surveillance equipment, machine vision, high-speed imaging, and optical transmission systems, without requiring data reformatting for data transmission. The TLK10081 aggregates up to 8 lanes of full-duplex 1.25Gbps data traffic into a single 10Gbps link, enabling transmission over copper cables up to 10m in length, relatively short backplanes, or long-distance optical links.
