January 16, 2014 – Broadcom, a global wired and wireless semiconductor company, announced today the release of a new WICED Software Development Kit (SDK) and stated that it will enable HD audio streaming over Wi-Fi. Broadcom also unveiled the WICED SDK at CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2014.

Broadcom's WICED Audio SDK enables OEMs to provide innovative solutions by delivering audio content directly to speakers via Wi-Fi alone, without the need for docking stations or cables. The newly released SDK supports Apple's integrated AirPlay™. Additionally, home media devices can seamlessly connect to a variety of products—such as smart TVs, portable speakers, media players, set-top boxes, and soundbars—using the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard or advanced Android streaming applications. Furthermore, WICED Audio has improved synchronization capabilities and allows for diverse configurations using multiple speakers within the same Wi-Fi network.
