Audi and Tesla vehicles are entering a recall after software defects were discovered.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 14th that Volkswagen Group Korea and Tesla Korea are voluntarily taking corrective measures (recall) for a total of 36,351 vehicles across 62 different models that were manufactured, imported, or sold, as defects were discovered.

23,141 vehicles (including those sold prior to the A6 45 TFSI Premium) of 61 models imported and sold by Volkswagen Group Korea Co., Ltd. were found to be non-compliant with safety standards due to a rear camera software error that prevents the rear camera image from being properly displayed when reversing. Therefore, the importer plans to first proceed with a recall and subsequently impose a fine taking into account the correction rate.

Starting December 19, 61 vehicle models, including the A6 45 TFSI Premium, can receive free repairs, such as software updates, at official Volkswagen Group Korea service centers.

Tesla Korea Ltd. will conduct a remote automatic update to improved software starting December 16 for 13,210 Model Y vehicles imported and sold, as it has been confirmed that there is a possibility of accidents occurring due to taillight software errors causing the taillights to intermittently fail to light up.
