STMicroelectronics Expands 6th Generation Power MOSFET Family

Korea, June 28, 2011 – STMicroelectronics ( www.st.com ), a world-leading integrated semiconductor company and a leader in power semiconductors, has expanded its family of high-efficiency power transistors featuring 6th generation STripFET™ technology, providing a wider range of products to enable designers to achieve energy-saving performance in various applications.

The latest STripFET VI DeepGATE power MOSFETs can withstand voltages up to 80V, making them suitable for use in solar applications (micro-inverters), telecommunications, networking, and power supplies for servers. The high voltage rating ensures reliable operation even in 48V telecommunications applications, providing efficiency benefits and helping telecommunications operators reduce network operating costs. Furthermore, consumer electronics power supplies offer longer lifespans while enhancing user convenience due to their relatively low energy consumption and lower operating temperatures.

The five newly released products are 60V STP260N6F6 and STH260N6F6-2, 75V STP210N75F6 and STH210N75F6-2, and 80V STL75N8LF6. By utilizing ST’s latest DeepGATE™ trench MOSFET structure, the on-resistance per die area is the lowest in the industry. This enables ST to integrate low-loss devices into ultra-small, industry-standard packages, allowing customers to improve system efficiency while minimizing PCB space and lowering overall component costs.

STP260N6F6 and STP210N75F6 are currently available in through-hole TO-220 packages at a price of $3.20 per unit based on a supply volume of 1,000. STH210N75F6-2 and STH260N6F6-2 are available in surface-mount H2PAK-2 packages at a price of $3.50 per unit based on a supply volume of 1,000.

Samples of the STL75N8LF6, which is provided in a PowerFLAT 5x6 package to optimize power-processing performance while reducing footprint, are scheduled to be available in the third quarter of 2011 at a price of $1.50 per unit for a supply of 1,000 units. Prices are negotiable for bulk orders.
