The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will transform uniform and rigid regulations into flexible regulations to promote the mobility industry.

As his first official act following the launch of the Mobility and Automobile Bureau, Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Oh Myeong-so visited the Sangam Autonomous Vehicle Pilot Operation Zone in Seoul on the afternoon of the 28th to inspect the status of autonomous vehicle service demonstrations and held a meeting with companies.

After receiving a report from Seoul City officials on the operation of the district and the status of paid passenger transportation services within the district (4 companies/8 vehicles), Vice Minister Oh presided over a meeting with companies to exchange various opinions on promoting the new mobility industry.

Officials from the autonomous driving industry attending the meeting inquired about policy measures to increase public acceptance of autonomous driving and called for active government support for corporate research and development and demonstration.

In response, Vice Minister Eo emphasized, “The launch of the Mobility Vehicle Bureau is the result of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s deep deliberation and expression of strong determination to promote advanced industries, including autonomous vehicles, and improve the quality of life for the people,” and expressed his commitment, stating, “We will continue our efforts to create free demonstrations and sustainable business models by transforming uniform and rigid regulations into flexible ones and continuing financial support that can provide practical assistance.”
