LG Innotek Sets First Open Booth at CES… Welcoming Over 20,000 Visitors
LG Innotek's optical technology expected to play a role in ensuring safety in autonomous driving during adverse weather conditions

At CES 2023, the synergy resulting from the convergence of LG Innotek’s key core technologies, such as optics, substrates, and automotive electronics, with autonomous driving attracted the attention of visitors.

LG Innotek announced on the 9th that it expects its global brand awareness to rise significantly by setting up a booth for the first time at CES, where it had previously participated in a private exhibition format.

LG Innotek welcomed over 20,000 visitors during CES 2023, showcasing a variety of innovative products related to optical solutions, substrate materials, and automotive components.

A mock-up of an autonomous vehicle installed in the center of the booth attracted attention. In particular, 16 types of electronic components related to autonomous driving were displayed in the actual locations where they would be installed, allowing visitors to directly verify LG Innotek's competitiveness as a 'total solution provider for future vehicle electronic components.'

Visitors took note of the synergy created by the convergence of LG Innotek's key technologies, such as optics, substrates, and automotive electronics, in autonomous driving.

A representative example is the 'Sensor Fusion' solution, which was introduced for the first time.>
It is a solution that combines the advantages of a camera module developed with LG Innotek’s world-leading optical technology know-how and a radar module equipped with cutting-edge automotive technology to accurately detect objects even in bad weather.

It is expected to play a decisive role in ensuring safety, an essential condition for fully autonomous driving, and is evaluated as an opportunity for LG Innotek to demonstrate its technological competitiveness to lead the future era of autonomous driving.

Furthermore, as substrate materials and automotive products—which served as another key pillar of the exhibition booth, including flip-chip ball grid arrays (FC-BGA) and eco-friendly power solutions—were introduced to the general public, the response was that visitors could naturally grasp LG Innotek's strategy of upgrading its business portfolio to secure future growth engines.

Meanwhile, there was a succession of comments from visitors stating that they learned about the principles and importance of the components hidden within products used by global consumers in their daily lives, such as smartphones.

Min Jon, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy who planned this exhibition, explained, “By bringing various components from smartphones and cars out into the open and displaying them, which are not usually seen, we wanted to convey the message that future innovative products are determined by their components.”

To this end, LG Innotek has also prepared experiential exhibition content throughout the site to enhance understanding of the displayed components.

In the case of FC-BGA, which was a hot topic at the booth along with the autonomous vehicle model, visitors were allowed to build an FC-BGA board by stacking blocks themselves.

This allows for an intuitive understanding of LG Innotek's high-layer, high-integration substrate technology.

Securing potential customers is also a major achievement of this first open exhibition.

An LG Innotek official stated, “The number of confirmed client meetings before the exhibition started has more than doubled compared to previous years.“More than 100 meetings were arranged on the spot at the booth, and it appears that CES will play a positive role in securing potential customers and expanding orders,” he said.

President Jeong Cheol-dong said, “This CES served as an important opportunity to showcase LG Innotek’s advanced technological competitiveness to the world,” adding, “We will continue to focus on creating differentiated customer value as a leading global materials and components company.”
