Incheon Metropolitan City is emerging as a hub leading future growth industries such as future mobility, semiconductor packaging, and robotics.

Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok announced on the 12th that he visited Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP) to listen to the '2023 major business plans and pending issues' and held a time of communication for the smooth operation of Incheon TP.

Mayor Yoo commended Incheon TP for its efforts in achieving excellent results, such as being selected as the best institution in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' management evaluation for four consecutive years and winning the '2022 Presidential Award for Merit in Job Creation.'

Next, they reviewed last year's major achievements related to Incheon TP's support for SME growth, fostering future strategic industries, and establishing hubs for regional industrial innovation, as well as implementation plans for each key strategic task to be pursued this year.

Incheon City revealed plans to foster the semiconductor packaging industry by establishing a semiconductor specialized complex to cultivate future growth industries and supporting technology commercialization.

In addition, attracting the Bio-Win Cooperation Center through the establishment of the Bio-Convergence Industrial Technology Complex ('20~'25). He added that there are plans to establish a bio-convergence ecosystem and intensively foster future mobility industries, such as drones, PAVs (Personal Air Vehicles), and future cars.

Meanwhile, Incheon City, together with Incheon TP and Inha University, has been formulating development strategies to create a sustainable, Incheon-specialized semiconductor industry ecosystem, starting with the launch of the Incheon Semiconductor Forum in 2021. It has been making every effort to attract a specialized complex, including hosting the 'Semiconductor Industry Industry-Academic-Research Network Symposium' last September.

In addition, Incheon City hosted 'K-UAM CONFEX' at the Paradise City Hotel in Yeongjong last November to discuss the latest trends in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), aiming for commercialization around 2025. Through conferences, booth exhibitions, and roundtables, the city emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation between domestic and international cities and companies regarding UAM. Furthermore, it signed business agreements with relevant industry, academia, and research institutes led by Incheon regarding the construction of vertiports and demonstration flights. The Incheon Technopark Aviation Industry Center is establishing a foundation for growth by discovering and nurturing aviation companies and fostering industries such as the drone sector.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok emphasized, “The role of Incheon TP in supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises and fostering high-tech industries is more important than ever for Incheon to ‘leap forward to become Korea’s second-largest city and the era of a 100 trillion won economy.’”

He also stated, “We must intensively foster sectors where Incheon has strengths, such as the future mobility industry, semiconductor packaging industry, and robotics, so that we can play a leading role in future growth industries.”
