TUV Rheinland Korea starts trial service for Matter version 1.0.

TUV Rheinland Korea is the only accredited matter testing laboratory in Korea and provides matter testing and certification services for smart home and IoT products.

Matter is a new smart home communication standard from the global telecommunications standards organization CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance). It aims to implement a simple and secure Internet of Things (IoT) with high interoperability based on IP protocol communication.

The Matter 1.0 version, released in October 2022, supports various smart home products such as lighting, window blinds, security sensors, door locks, and TVs, and the range of supported products is expected to expand to include home appliances, robot vacuum cleaners, and smart speakers in the future.

Ryu Kwang-hyun, a manager at TUV Rheinland Korea, said, “TUV Rheinland Korea actively provides not only new Matter certification tests but also tests for Matter’s basic network technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Thread. Additionally, cybersecurity assessment services are available in accordance with the cybersecurity requirements of the European Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which is set to become mandatory from 2024, allowing for the efficient completion of necessary certifications all at once according to product requirements.”

Meanwhile, TUV Rheinland Korea's telecommunications testing laboratory provides various testing and certification services for Japanese wired and wireless communication approvals (JPA, JRF), Wi-Fi, WPC (qi certification), ZigBee, Bluetooth, OpenADR, Mirrorlink, LoRa, Thread, etc., and is steadily expanding its service scope.
