February 25, 2014, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company contributing to customers across various electronic applications, will participate in 'Embedded World 2014' in Germany in March and unveil the M24SR Discovery Kit, a development platform for the M24SR Dynamic NFC Tag. Mass production of the M24SR Dynamic NFC Tag has now begun with various memory sizes and package options.

ST’s M24SR Discovery Kit, which can accelerate the design of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, contains everything needed to connect NFC to electronic products ranging from fitness watches, speakers, washing machines, and water meters.

The ST M24SR dynamic tag, part of ST's NFC portfolio, combines an industry-standard serial bus (I2C) and contactless RF (NFC Forum Tag Type 4) interface. It also supports the NFC data exchange format (NDEF) and 128-bit password protection. The M24SR series is available in EEPROM memory sizes ranging from 2Kbit to 64Kbit and in three package forms: SO8, TSSOP8, and UFDFPN8.

The M24SR Discovery Kit, which supports the rapid development of connected consumers, home products, and industrial equipment, allows you to try out NFC applications such as tap and pair, URL linking, sending SMS or emails, and downloading business cards. This kit is equipped with a dynamic NFC/RFID tag (M24SR64-Y), an STM32F1 microcontroller, a 13.56 MHz antenna, an LCD color screen, a USB connector, a JTAG connector (Joint Test Action Group connector), and a joystick for menu selection. The premium version includes a Bluetooth module with audio output and a headset, allowing for convenient pairing with smartphones and audio products equipped with the M24SR.
