March 5, 2014 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the release of a step-up DC/DC converter (product name: LT3048) with a highly integrated LDO output that provides a low-noise, low-ripple 15V bias power supply.

The LT3048-15 provides output ripple, noise of less than 500µVPK-PK, 0.1% load regulation, and a continuous output current of up to 40mA at 15V. Operating over an input voltage range of 2.7V to 4.8V, the device is suitable for single-cell lithium-ion batteries or 3.3V logic rails. A fixed switching frequency of 2.2MHz enables the use of small external components. The LT3048-15 combines an integrated Schottky diode in a 2mm x 2mm DFN package, providing a simple and compact solution footprint for low-noise bias applications.

The high-efficiency switch and 2.2 MHz constant frequency operation built into the LT3048-15 provide low ripple output to the LDO, delivering ultra-low output ripple of less than 500 µVPK-PK at 15 V output. This product's current mode control enables high-speed transient response without the need for complex external compensation. To further enhance system reliability, the LT3048-15 provides a load-side shutdown function in addition to short-circuit and thermal protection.

The LT3048EDC-15 is available in a 2mm x 2mm DFN-8 package, and the industrial temperature (-40°C to 125°C) version is the LT3048IDC-15. All versions are available immediately.
