Freescale and Partners Collaborate to Enhance Global Cloud Services and Data Center Security

March 7, 2014, Seoul, South Korea — As sophisticated cyberattacks targeting prominent corporate organizations rise and concerns about network data security are reported daily in the global press, Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL) is working with partners to help improve security for data centers, cloud services, and web servers worldwide by expanding the availability of its ecosystem and flagship C29x security coprocessors.
Silicom Ltd. and Green Hills Software, two of the leading companies in the embedded security field, have partnered with Freescale to build new solutions based on the C29x cryptographic coprocessor. Both solutions are designed to provide exceptional levels of security and performance. Silicom's state-of-the-art C29x-based production-ready boards and Green Hills Software's powerful Integrity® RTOS (Real-time Operating System) are designed to help system designers and OEMs securely protect cloud services and data centers.

Silicom, an industry leader in high-performance networking and data infrastructure solutions, has developed the new C29x PCI-E card, the first mass-producible C29x board adopted by OEMs for their own systems. This solution delivers industry-leading cryptographic performance, accelerating public key processing speeds in servers, data centers, and security appliances. Additionally, Greenhills Software, a leader in embedded RTOS technology and a long-time partner of Freescale, has integrated its acclaimed security-certified Integrity RTOS into the C29x coprocessor. This combination constitutes an ideal solution for security key management applications that require a highly "trusted" architecture to ensure the secure protection of cryptographic keys in applications such as online banking and video-on-demand servers.
The Green Hills Integrity RTOS and Embedded Cryptographic Toolkit are currently provided by Green Hills Software. Silicon plans to sample C29x-based boards in early Q2 2014, and mass production is scheduled for mid-2014.
