Freescale Expands Programmable Power Management IC Family for Power-Constrained Connected Devices

March 10, 2014, Seoul, Korea – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL) announced today that it is adding the MMPF0200 device to its PF series of highly programmable power management ICs (PMICs).
Optimized to operate seamlessly on systems based on Freescale’s i.MX 6Solo, i.MX 6SoloLite, and i.MX 6DualLite application processors, the MMPF0200’s exceptional configurability and quick-turn programming capabilities make it suitable for a wide range of power-sensitive platforms, including portable medical devices, IP headphones, home security systems, IPTV controllers, and tablet and home energy management solutions. Furthermore, building on Freescale’s long history as a leader in the automotive electronics market, the MMPF0200 is designed to comply with Auto AEC-Q100 Grade 3 for automotive applications such as infotainment systems.
The MMPF0200's Quick Turn Programming feature enables customers to quickly program devices to support diverse system power requirements and meet the demands of rapidly changing emerging markets. With an architecture featuring various current ratings and programmable voltage outputs, it is highly suitable as a system-level power solution supporting core processors, memory, and peripherals. This reduces system design complexity, decreases the overall number of components, and shortens time-to-market.

The MMPF0200 belongs to Freescale's PF series, which also includes the MMPF0100. The MMPF0100 is suitable for high-complexity systems, such as feature-rich smart mobile devices and advanced automotive infotainment systems, while the MMPF0200 is designed for mainstream systems to complement low-power components of the i.MX 6 family, such as the i.MX 6SoloLite, i.MX 6Solo, and i.MX 6DualLite SoCs. The MMPF0200 works seamlessly with i.MX 6 technology to accelerate design cycles and optimize the use of onboard resources, IP, and features.
