The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) and the Korea Small Business & Venture Corporation (KOSBC) have joined hands for corporate structural innovation to strengthen the electrical technology capabilities of local small and medium-sized enterprises.

On the 24th, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute signed a mutual cooperation agreement with the Korea Small Business & Startup Agency to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

KERI and the Korea Small Business & Startup Agency are representative organizations located in Changwon and Jinju, Gyeongnam, respectively, actively carrying out support projects for small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies in the southeastern region of the country.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will carry out cooperation including: △cooperation linked to structural innovation projects for small and medium-sized enterprises (support for electrical technology in the automotive, lathe, and hydraulic fields); △technical support for graduates of the Youth Entrepreneurship Academy and companies receiving startup funding (testing and certification, utilization of researcher and equipment infrastructure, etc.); △education in new business technology fields such as electric motors and electric medical devices; and △support for resolving technical difficulties and localization for companies expanding overseas.

KERI President Kim Nam-kyun stated, “The institute will actively support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and venture companies by instilling advanced electrification DNA and enabling them to achieve sustainable development through structural innovation,” while KOSME President Kim Hak-do said, “We will strive to ensure that SMEs and venture companies can enhance their competitiveness and promote innovative growth by receiving various forms of support, such as access to experts and equipment in the field of advanced electrical technology.”

Meanwhile, KERI is a government-funded research institute under the National Science and Technology Research Council of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Currently, the institute is conducting manufacturing innovation projects utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and simulation, driving improvements in corporate operational efficiency and supporting product development. Furthermore, through initiatives such as the Changwon Small Giant Special Zone, it is fostering promising companies in the field of 'intelligent electric-based mechanical convergence' and playing a significant role in revitalizing the startup ecosystem.
