Korean Memory Semiconductor Company Selects Verigy’s V93000 HSM GDDR5 Solution
Cupertino, California – June 23, 2011 – Verigy (NASDAQ: VRGY), a leading semiconductor test company, announced today that it has won a new GDDR5 mass production test business using its V93000 HSM platform from a Korean memory semiconductor company.

The Verigy V93000 HSM6800 is a test system for memory semiconductors that provides high processing capabilities and actual operating speeds, capable of testing ultra-high-speed GDDR5 graphics memory with operating speeds of over 4Gbps per pin. The reason Korean memory semiconductor companies selected the V93000 HSM6800 is due to its package testing capability with actual operating speeds of up to 8Gbps, which is the industry's highest level, as well as test processing capabilities and yields that have been proven to be superior to other high-speed memory test systems currently on the market.

GDDR5 is an advanced, high-performance graphics DRAM standard designed for high-bandwidth graphics applications, such as graphics cards, game consoles, and high-end consumer applications (e.g., DTVs, set-top boxes). GDDR5 offers two to three times greater memory bandwidth than its predecessor, GDDR3. To achieve data processing speeds of up to 8 Gbps, GDDR5 has introduced various new features. These features include Data Bus Inversion (DBI) and Address Bus Inversion (ABI), which enhance signal integrity while simultaneously reducing power consumption. Additionally, it includes an error detection and correction mechanism using the Cyclic Repetition Check (CRC) algorithm to detect data transmission errors on high-speed signal lines, ensuring stable system operation. Verigy's V93000 HSM is the only memory ATE currently on the market that supports testing for all these advanced memory technologies incorporated into GDDR5.
