STMicroelectronics Provides Optimized Code to Maximize STM32 Microcontroller Performance and Efficiency
March 20, 2014, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company contributing to customers across various electronic applications, provides ‘STM32Snippets,’ a register-level code with a high level of optimization and ready-to-use capabilities to maximize the performance and efficiency of STM32 microcontroller applications.
Register-level programming can reduce memory footprint, shorten processor cycles, and lower supply current, but it generally requires extensive and intensive study of the chip manual. In response, 'STM32 Snippets' provide a faster route for smooth and efficient program development that helps improve application performance and meet power and cost targets.
'STM32Snippets' are included in the recently announced STM32Cube™ software tools and embedded software designed to simplify initial setup and porting. Developers can choose between the portable 'STM32Cube' and the implementation-optimized 'STM32Snippets'. This is the only development ecosystem on the market that ensures STM32 is a priority consideration for creative embedded designs.
ST has released 'STM32 Snippets' for use with all STM32 microcontroller products, and has initially released about 100 snippets that fully support the STM32 F0 peripheral set, excluding USB controllers. The snippets are available for immediate free download and can be used on the STM32F072B-DISCO Discovery Board, as well as in IAR’s EWARM tool or Keil’s MDK-ARM development environment. Additionally, some snippets are immediately integrated into the STM32 F0 reference manual to provide 'samples' that help understand how the MCU works.
