STMicroelectronics Launches Ultra-Small, Ultra-Light Package I2C EEPROM Series
March 26, 2014, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company contributing to customers across a wide range of electronic applications, announced that it is strengthening its small product family by beginning to offer EEPROM products in a 1.4mm x 1.7mm UFDFPN5 package.
The UFDFPN5 package (also known as MLP5) can be easily applied to standard production processes and is 40% smaller and 56% lighter than UFDFPN8, which is known as the smallest package widely used to date, weighing only 7 mg.
This EEPROM package, ideal for ultra-small and lightweight LCD modules in next-generation laptops and tablets, is available starting with the M24C16-FMH6TG. This 16Kbit chip is compatible with 400kHz and 100kHz I2C™ bus modes and features maximum byte or page write times of 5ms. Additionally, it achieves very low power consumption of 1mA in read or write mode and 1µA in standby mode. I2C-supported 32Kbit, 64Kbit, and 128Kbit products are scheduled to be released throughout 2014.
Bulk orders for M24C16-FMH6TG are currently available, and the UFDFPN5 package price is $0.17 for orders of 1,000 units.
