Keysight Technologies supports ritt7Layers in providing O-RAN certifications and badges for Open RAN components.

Keysight announced on the 22nd that it has supported the latest O-RAN certification for ritt7Layer, a test lab qualified to provide certification for OpenRAN equipment and UEs.

While proprietary network equipment from a single vendor has been used in existing wireless access network (RAN) deployments, open RAN models for 5G are now being adopted to allow service providers to build RANs by mixing network equipment from multiple vendors.

Open RAN offers excellent flexibility and cost-saving benefits, but it also presents significant challenges regarding compatibility and interoperability. Recognizing these challenges, the O-RAN Alliance introduced the O-RAN certification and badge program through OTIC to ensure that OpenRAN equipment operates as intended in communication networks.

To provide O-RAN certifications and badges to vendors, ritt7Layers uses Keysight's comprehensive wireless network emulation and test solutions to verify the conformity, functionality, and performance of OpenRAN equipment.

This includes Keysight Open RAN Architecture (KORA) and network emulation solutions, providing comprehensive testing for 5G and 4G/LTE networks.

In addition, the Keysight S8705A RF/RRM conformance toolset and the S8704A protocol conformance toolset are used for UE certification, and the WaveJudge radio analyzer is used to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor interoperability testing processes.

ritt7Layers announced that it has added Keysight-backed O-RAN certifications and badges to its existing 5G cellular device certifications for the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and PTCRB to be certified as the only test vendor qualified to provide certification for OpenRAN equipment and UEs.
