TI Launches 40V–100V NexFET™ MOSFETs for High-Current Motor Control and Power Design

TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) March 27, 2014 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) has expanded its NexFET portfolio with the launch of 14 power MOSFET devices. The newly released products support input voltages ranging from 40V to 100V and are available in TO-220 and SON packages. These high-efficiency NexFET devices are available in 40V, 60V, 80V, and 100V N-channel configurations and feature excellent thermal performance, making them suitable for various types of high-current motor control and power applications.
The two new 80V and 100V NexFET devices achieve the industry's lowest on-resistance in a TO-220 package while maintaining high gate charge, enabling developers to increase power conversion efficiency at higher currents. The CSD19506 has an Rds(on) value of 2.0 mΩ at input voltages up to 80V, while the CSD19536 has an Rds(on) value of 2.3 mΩ at an input of 100V. Both products utilize plastic packages to provide high avalanche performance, making them suitable for high-stress motor control applications. Additionally, developers can easily select the latest devices and simulate their own power designs using TI's WEBENCH® online design tool.
TI also released various evaluation modules based on easy-to-use 60V NexFETs. All evaluation modules are currently available for order at the TI eStore™.
• Stepper motor pre-driver: The DRV8711EVM evaluation module based on the DRV8711 stepper motor controller can be combined with a NexFET device to drive a high-current bipolar stepper motor or two brushed DC motors.
• Motor Drive Booster Pack: The BOOSTXL-DRV8301 kit, a 10A, 3-phase brushless DC drive stage based on the DRV8301 pre-driver, is designed for developers who want to learn more about sensorless brushless control techniques and drive stage design.
• Digital Power: The UCD3138PSFBEVM-027 is a product for power developers who want to design digitally controlled, phase-shift offline, 12V, 360W power converter applications.
• POL (point-of-load) control: The TPS40170EVM-597 evaluation board consists of TI's TPS40170 synchronous step-down controller and two NexFET devices.
The CSD19506KCS and CSD19536KCS N-channel devices are currently available in bulk through TI and its authorized distributors. These products are available in a standard 3-pin TO-220 package, and in addition, TI offers 40V, 60V, 80V, and 100V FET products in lead-free 5mm x 6mm SON packages.
