Samsung Electronics, 1 out of 2 units sold in first half are 'energy-saving appliances'

With expanding consumer purchases of high-efficiency products showing keen interest in energy conservation, sales of Energy Efficiency Grade 1 models, high-efficiency energy-saving models, and products equipped with AI saving mode are surging.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 9th that 1 out of 2 units among TVs, refrigerators, kimchi refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, air purifiers and other products sold in the first half of 2023 were found to be energy-saving appliances.
In particular, the sales proportion of Energy Efficiency Grade 1 models for these products was found to exceed 1 out of 3 units.
High-efficiency energy-saving appliances have lower power consumption than the minimum standard for Energy Efficiency Grade 1, enabling electricity bill savings, and can provide additional energy savings through AI saving mode.
Compared to the Energy Efficiency Grade 1 minimum standard, the Bespoke Grande Washing Machine AI consumes △maximum 20% less power, the Bespoke Refrigerator 4-door △maximum 22% less, and the WindFree Air Conditioner Gallery 10% less, alleviating electricity bill concerns even during summer.
Additional energy savings are possible by utilizing SmartThings Energy AI saving mode.
When setting monthly usage targets through AI saving mode, power consumption is automatically reduced before reaching the progressive billing tier.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is running the Samsung Energy-Saving Appliance Festival, offering benefits (points or cashback) of up to 500,000 won per model to customers who purchase 2 or more items from a special package model with Energy Efficiency Grade 1 or supporting AI saving mode until July 31st.
Samsung Electronics is also actively participating in the support program for small business owners replacing outdated cooling units, where the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Electric Power Corporation provide refunds of up to 40% of the purchase price when purchasing Energy Efficiency Grade 1 air conditioners.
Refund applications can be submitted at the Korea Electric Power official website scheduled to open in mid-July by attaching the energy efficiency rating label, manufacturing nameplate, transaction details, and receipt of the purchased product after purchase, and detailed information on refund policies can also be found on Samsung.com.
