Analog Devices Launches Ultra-Low Power Boost Regulator for Energy Harvesting Systems

April 2, 2014 – Analog Devices ( www.analog.com , NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today released the industry's highest-efficiency ultra-low-power boost regulator for solar and thermoelectric energy harvesting systems.
The ADP5090 ultra-low power boost regulator represents a major leap in energy harvesting technology by efficiently converting harvested power with sub-µW (10µW) operating losses, enabling maximum energy storage for future operation. Collecting “indoor” ambient light for practical use is becoming a global trend in wireless sensor network applications.
The ADP5090 ultra-low power boost regulator guarantees most of the energy extracted from the harvester through a programmable maximum power point tracking function with open-circuit voltage sensing, and a standby current (Iq) of 250nA in deep-sleep mode minimizes ambient energy loss to extend operating time. Additionally, a cold start is possible at an input voltage of 380mV even when there is no energy on the system node thanks to an integrated charge pump circuit.
The ADP5090 is available in a 3mm x 3mm 16-lead LFCSP package and is currently in supply.
