Johnson Controls Acquires Digital Workplace Solutions Company FM Systems

Johnson Controls announced on the 1st that it has acquired FM:Systems, a company specializing in digital workplace management and IoT solutions.
Johnson Controls will leverage FM Systems' expertise to enhance its OpenBlue software suite and leverage cutting-edge AI and digital twin technologies to make buildings smarter and healthier.
With buildings accounting for approximately 40% of global carbon emissions, the acquisition is expected to strengthen Johnson Controls' global leadership in carbon-neutral building technologies while creating new opportunities by meeting the needs of the rapidly growing smart buildings sector.
FM Systems is a leading provider of digital workplace solutions, with over 1,200 customers and over 2.4 million users in 80 countries worldwide.
FM Systems' innovative software features: security protocols, planar scenario modeling, bidirectional integration with AutoCAD and Revit models, and advanced workstation analysis capabilities.It has special strengths in making workspaces smart, such as space scenario planning, asset management, and facility renovation.
“By combining FM Systems’ powerful predictive workplace management platform with Johnson Controls OpenBlue, our industry-leading building automation service, we will provide customers with a one-stop solution to accelerate their digital transformation, improve building efficiency and reduce operating costs,” said George Oliver, chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls.
“FM Systems’ expertise will be a valuable addition to Johnson Controls’ OpenBlue digital capabilities and to our shared vision of leading the future of autonomous and connected buildings,” said Dean Jacobson, Managing Director at Accel-KKR.
Meanwhile, FM Systems boasts a loyal customer base, achieving an average net sales retention rate of over 110% since 2020.
Kurt von Koch, Chairman and CEO of FM Systems, will join Johnson Controls' digital business and provide leadership.
