LG Uplus contributes to logistics automation by providing logistics robot communication infrastructure based on 5G communication networks.

LG Uplus announced on the 7th that it has signed a business agreement for the logistics robot business with Eugene Robot, a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions. Key executives, including LG Uplus’s Head of Corporate New Business Group (Executive Vice President) Lim Jang-hyuk and Eugene Robot CEO Park Sung-joo, attended the signing ceremony held at Eugene Robot’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon.

LG Uplus's logistics robot business aims to implement practical logistics automation by supplying a stable communication network and to enhance user convenience by developing and supplying a robot control platform.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Eugene Robot has implemented autonomous robots using its own technology, ranging from 3D LiDAR sensors to autonomous driving and functional safety controllers, standard and custom platforms, and system integration (SI). Eugene Robot's autonomous robot, 'GoCart,' can easily transport weights of up to 500 kg. In 2021, it became the first domestic logistics robot to receive 'ISO 13482' certification, a robot safety standard. In addition, it has been exported to six countries around the world, including Germany and Slovenia, in addition to the domestic market.

Through this collaboration, LG Uplus will play a role in establishing a stable robot usage environment based on its 5G communication network and platform. Eugene Robot will provide high-quality logistics robots and business operation know-how within the market. Both companies announced that they also plan to launch subscription-based products to reduce the burden on customers regarding initial investment costs.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus has been building business capabilities in the market over the past year through its serving robot 'CLOi'. Building on this foundation, the company plans to expand its presence in the robot industry, including delivery and guidance, following its entry into the logistics robot business.
