May 12, 2014, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company contributing to customers across a wide range of electronic applications, announced that Blast Baseball, recently unveiled by Blast Motion (Blast), was developed based on the close collaboration between the two companies and utilizes ST’s cutting-edge MEMS process technology. Blast Baseball supports players in learning about their swing techniques and improving their skills, while presenting a new way to share their achievements.

Blast's precision motion sensor can be attached to the end of any bat and features a lightweight design weighing less than 1 ounce, as well as dust, shock, and water resistance. Using Bluetooth Smart technology, it transmits accurate analysis of a player's swing during a game to an iPhone or iPad. The accuracy of Blast Baseball is superior enough to be compared to the world's most sophisticated tracking systems. Blast Baseball can distinguish between practice swings and actual hits, and it can save swing data even if the connected mobile device and sensor are out of valid range.

Blast Baseball is the first product in the Blast product line. Blast Baseball consists of the Blast Precision Motion Sensor, a bat attachment, and the Blast app download.
