Xilinx begins first shipments of Virtex UltraScale FPGA, expanding industry-only 20nm high-end product line implementing 500G in single chip
Xilinx Korea (Branch Manager Ahn Hung-sik) May 14, 2014 – Xilinx announced that it has begun first customer shipments of the Virtex® UltraScale™ VU095 All Programmable® FPGA. With this, Xilinx expands its portfolio to the industry's only 20nm high-end product family capable of implementing 400G and 500G applications in a single chip. The Virtex UltraScale VU095 device delivers unprecedented performance and system integration, as well as bandwidth applicable to diverse applications including wired communications, test and measurement, aerospace and defense, and data centers. Xilinx has also added the VU190 FPGA to the Virtex UltraScale product family, which combines approximately 2 million logic cells, more than 130 Mb of on-chip RAM, thousands of parallel I/O pins, and up to 120 serial transceivers.
The Virtex UltraScale ASIC-class product family offers the industry's only programmable path delivering more than 50% power reduction and proven 3D IC technology providing more than 2x system-level performance and integration through combined FPGA implementation, delivering new value to customers. This product family optimizes the Vivado® Design Suite and UltraFast™ design methodologies to enable superior device utilization without compromising productivity and predictability or performance degradation. The product family combines 332.75Gb/s transceivers for chip-to-chip and chip-to-optics connectivity with 28G backplane, and features multiple integrated ASIC-class 100G Ethernet and 150G Interlaken cores. Xilinx SmartCORE™ and LogiCORE™ solutions provide widely used proven IP cores serving as practical building blocks for UltraScale designs. The UltraScale 20nm devices also provide seamless footprint migration for future transition to UltraScale 16nm FinFET-based devices.
