Development of a development-linked system in the field of ADAS image recognition through collaboration with Freescale, Neusoft, and Green Hills Software
Seoul, Korea – May 20, 2014 – (Freescale Technology Forum, China) – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL, www.freescale.com , Country Manager for Korea Yeon-Ho Hwang) is developing a comprehensive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) linkage system in collaboration with Neusoft (SSE: 600718) and Green Hills Software that can dramatically shorten and streamline development in the field of next-generation automotive image recognition.
As ADAS image recognition systems expand to encompass more aspects of vehicle braking and steering systems, developers and system designers are demanding turnkey solutions that address stringent automotive safety regulations and comply with the ISO 26262 functional safety standard. This specially developed ADAS integration system is designed to meet these challenges by streamlining the time-consuming process of developing complex algorithms and porting them to target hardware.
This jointly developed solution integrates CogniVue Corporation’s APEX ICP (Image Recognition Processing) IP supplied by Freescale, Neusoft’s advanced semiconductor-based recognition software for ADAS image recognition applications, and the safety-certified INTEGRITY® operating system and MULTI® toolchain from Green Hills Software, a functional safety specialist. The result is a comprehensive, off-the-shelf ADAS image recognition solution based on a software foundation that has passed ISO 26262 ASIL evaluation. Specific applications include pedestrian detection, traffic signal recognition, collision avoidance, and other advanced ADAS features.

APEX processor technology is a technology that extracts application-specific information from a scene and interprets image data to make decisions or take actions based on the extracted data. Freescale acquired the license for CogniVue's APEX-642 ICP core IP in 2012 and is the exclusive supplier of the technology in the automotive market.
