Experts from Korea, Taiwan, and Europe participated in discussions on how to utilize international IoT standards.
'AIoT 2023' to showcase IoT R&D achievements and international IoT developer competition winners

The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) introduced international IoT standards, including Mobius, and discussed their use in Taiwanese industries, laying the foundation for a global IoT belt.

KETI announced on the 26th that it held an international workshop in Taipei, Taiwan on the 25th to discuss global technology expansion based on the KETI Mobius platform and IoT international standards.

Mobius is the world's first open-source IoT platform, released by KETI in 2015 based on the Internet of Things standard oneM2M. Currently, approximately 1,000 companies and organizations around the world are using it for numerous projects.

oneM2M is an international IoT standards organization established in July 2012, with approximately 200 participating organizations, including ICT standards development organizations from Korea, North America, Europe, India, China, and Japan, as well as global companies and research institutes.

The theme of this event, co-hosted by IoT standardization and R&D organizations in Korea, Taiwan, and Europe, as well as major Taiwanese associations, is 'Smart City·5G·Globally Interoperable Solutions for Smartcity, 5G, AI, Metaverse.

About 150 businesspeople from Taiwan's electronics and IT industries attended the event, and international IoT standards officials from France, Germany, India, and other countries also attended online to share various IoT utilization plans, including trends in IoT technology standards and application areas.

In addition, KETI will set up a KETI exhibition booth at the 'AIoT 2023 Taiwan' exhibition held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center for three days starting on the 25th, and will showcase its IoT R&D achievements and winning works from the international IoT developer competition.

KETI will disclose not only its own research results but also joint R&D results with Vida Co., Ltd. and Sejong University, and support the exhibition booth (smartphone-based crosswalk safety pedestrian service) of Summit Corporation Co., Ltd., the grand prize winner of the 7th KETI Mobius International Developer Competition held in June.

The KETI Mobius International Developer Competition is an international developer competition in the field of IoT application services that KETI has held since 2017. This year, it was held for approximately three months starting in March. The competition was held online, and 22 teams from around the world, including the United States, Korea, India, and Spain, advanced to the finals and submitted various IoT application service ideas.

Meanwhile, on the 27th, KETI's Convergence Systems Research Center and the Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan's largest R&D institute, plan to establish a foundation for future international joint research through technological exchanges for cooperation in cutting-edge technologies such as AIoT.

“It was a meaningful opportunity for IoT international standards experts from Korea, Taiwan, and Europe to come together and broadly discuss ways to utilize the technology in the global market,” said Jaejin Ko, head of the Convergence Systems Research Division at KETI, who hosted the international workshop. “We will continue to apply and expand KETI’s Mobius platform technology to the global market, and in particular, strengthen cooperation with IT organizations in major Asian countries.”
