June 10, 2014 — Micrel Korea (CEO Young Jun Oh, www.micrel.com), a leading industry provider of high-performance linear and power solutions as well as LAN, timing and communications solutions, has launched the MX55/57 Fusion Crystal Oscillator Clock (XO) solution. This device features industry-leading phase jitter performance of 170fsrms (12kHz ~ 20MHz) and is offered in standard 5mm x 7mm and 3.2mm x 5mm footprints. This XO solution targets a wide frequency range up to 840MHz and supports standard frequencies for applications such as 10/40/100G Ethernet and optical communications, SAS, and PCIe.

The MX55/57 product family delivers superior noise integrity of the power supply based on an on-chip linear regulator that improves overall performance even in high-noise environments. This device supports 3.3V and 2.5V supply voltages and LVPECL, LVDS, CMOS, and HCSL output logic formats. These devices comply with +50ppm Total Stability (TS) and meet aging and temperature drift requirements over an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Using proven plastic mold assembly enhances long-term reliability and minimizes aging drift compared to conventional XO devices. The MX55 product family is available with all options in a compact 3.2mm x 5mm package to reduce valuable board space particularly in high-channel-density applications. The MX57 product family of this solution is offered in an easy-to-design 5mm x 7mm package option.
