TI Korea (Chief Executive Officer Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) June 10, 2014 – TI (Chief Executive Officer Kent Chon) has begun mass production of the WiLink™ 8Q product family, an advanced wireless connectivity device for automotive applications. This product family provides customers with an all-in-one AEC-Q100 certified chip through integrated WiFi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, and GPS/GNSS technology. With this, the WiLink 8Q can deliver a complete wireless connectivity experience for automotive infotainment systems.
The use of WiFi in the automotive industry is continuously increasing. In line with this trend, TI's WiLink 8Q is being designed and adopted in major automotive customers and OEM products scheduled for launch this year. The WiLink 8Q provides comprehensive product portfolio for wireless automotive infotainment solutions along with advanced features and software support. It offers advanced multimedia capabilities such as simultaneous streaming of four HD videos over WiFi, WiFi CERTIFIED Miracast™ operation, hands-free calling via Bluetooth combined with in-vehicle multimedia video streaming, and A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) stereo music playback, and supports simultaneous reception of GPS, GLONASS, and other satellite signals. It provides connectivity product portfolio across all categories ranging from Bluetooth-dedicated IC (BL6450Q) to WiFi+Bluetooth combo IC and WiFi+Bluetooth+GNSS combo IC, with software reusability. Through Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4.1) products, it also supports Beacon™ technology, automotive personalization, and wireless cable replacement.

The WiLink 8Q product family, TI's second-generation automotive combo connectivity product, can be used with various infotainment processors, and is particularly ideal for use with TI's automotive processors DRA65x "Jacinto 5" and DRA74x "Jacinto 6". Additionally, using the WiLink 8Q product together with the newly launched "Jacinto 6 Eco" product enables a next-level automotive infotainment solution experience. TI provides robust software for the WiLink 8Q connectivity solution supporting well-known automotive operating systems such as Android, Linux, and QNX. Furthermore, TI enables fast and reliable product launches through ecosystem partnerships with major software vendors such as Cybercom, OpenSynergy, and XSe.
