Jang Hye-deok, Equinix Korea's representative, made these remarks at a press conference in Samseong-dong on the 5th. On that day, Equinix shared the results of its "2023 Global Tech Trend Survey" and introduced a private AI approach to securing data control. The survey surveyed over 2,900 IT decision-makers in 29 countries, with a total of 100 participants from Korea.

Data shows that despite the expanding application of AI technology across all industries, such as the launch of ChatGPT, domestic IT decision-makers lack confidence in their digital infrastructure and IT talent, and are unprepared to respond to the adoption of AI technology.

Among domestic IT decision makers, 72% responded that existing IT infrastructure does not meet the standards required for AI technology, a figure significantly higher than the global average of 42% and the Asia-Pacific average of 44%.

Furthermore, companies recognize the need for sustainable and responsible AI strategies as AI adoption accelerates. However, only 12% of Korean IT decision-makers responded that they are capable of meeting consumer demand for sustainable practices. This figure is significantly lower than the global average of 47% and the Asia-Pacific average of 51%.

To address this, Equinix, a colocation service provider, provides IT infrastructure that allows companies to manage all their data directly in its data centers and fulfill AI workflows. It also provides access to on-demand digital services to leverage the resources of Equinix's ecosystem partners.

The private cloud, as emphasized by Equinix, allows companies to manage their data directly while simultaneously enjoying the benefits of the public cloud. Private AI, a similar concept to private cloud, helps companies optimally process their data sets. "Private AI is an essential element for companies to deploy AI models based on their own data," said CEO Jang.

For example, Equinix is launching "SL4" in Korea in the first quarter of next year. SL4 is expected to accelerate the adoption of AI by domestic companies as well as foreign companies operating in Korea.

Customers who move into SL4 will be able to interconnect with industry cloud service providers (CSPs), global networks, content delivery network (CDN) providers, telecommunications companies, Internet service providers (ISPs), and Internet exchanges (IXs) such as KINX and Sejong Telecom's Internet Exchange (KRIX).
