June 13, 2014, Seoul – NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) announced the launch of the TEF510x, the second product in the RoadLINK™ lineup, which automotive OEMs and key suppliers can now incorporate into their designs. The TEF510x is a dual-radio multi-band RF transceiver for Car-to-X (C2X) applications. Supporting global C2X and Wi-Fi standards, the TEF510x provides OEMs with an optimized solution capable of meeting 802.11p modem functions on a single chip. The chip is available worldwide and supports a wide range of system configurations.

The TEF510x RF transceiver meets Wi-Fi and DSRC (5.8GHz) standards, as well as Japanese 760MHz C2X requirements and US and European (5.9GHz) standards. It is scheduled to be released for automotive production in 2015 and is expected to be available to consumers as early as 2016.

Together with the NXP/Cohda Wireless SAF510x baseband processor, which is powered by Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology, the RoadLINK chip enables fast, accurate, and reliable automotive two-way communication. RoadLINK takes C2X communication to the next level by delivering safety-critical information to the driver much faster than current and existing applications can.

The Japanese company ALPS Electric is already implementing in-vehicle applications using NXP's RoadLINK range of products. “Alps Electric aims to provide cutting-edge connected car technology to our customers. Based on superior performance, flexibility, scalability, and the ability to address various use cases and OEM requirements, we have selected NXP and Corda as our partners to implement application-ready C2X solutions,” said Yoshitada Amagishi, General Manager and Director of Engineering at Alps Electric.
