TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) June 19, 2014 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) announced the launch of the SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3100 and CC3200 platforms suitable for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This SimpleLink Wi-Fi family is the first of its kind among user-friendly, low-power wireless connectivity solutions to be suitable for IoT. The new Internet-on-a-chip™ is the industry's lowest power consumption product, enabling the implementation of battery-operated Wi-Fi devices through advanced low-power radio and low-power operating modes, and offers options such as the CC3100 solution, which can be implemented with any application microcontroller (MCU), or the CC3200, which integrates an application-programmable ARM® Cortex-M4 MCU. It includes fast connectivity, cloud support, on-chip Wi-Fi, embedded internet, and robust on-chip security protocols that enable even non-Wi-Fi experts to easily develop connected devices, and offers various provisioning options such as TI SmartConfig™, WPS, and AP mode that allow devices to be easily and securely connected to Wi-Fi via a mobile phone or tablet app or a web browser. These features enable customers to easily add embedded Wi-Fi and the Internet to various types of home, industrial, and consumer electronic devices.

By providing integrated RF front-ends and analogs on the chip along with QFN packages, the CC3100 and CC3200 enable developers to build small, easy-to-use systems at low cost by configuring devices directly on a PCB without the need for separate modules. The SimpleLink Wi-Fi product family supports cloud connectivity through partners in TI's IoT cloud ecosystem. Additionally, TI provides various kits, software tools, wirelessly certified TI modules (coming soon), reference designs, sample applications, development documentation, and the TI E2E™ community.

Through affordable LaunchPad evaluation kits and BoosterPack plug-in modules based on the TI MCU ecosystem, developers are provided with an easy way to design and verify Wi-Fi and Internet applications. It offers the first wireless connectivity LaunchPad evaluation kit, allowing users to start designing with TI's SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3200 solution without the need for a separate MCU. By combining the SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3100 BoosterPack with the Advanced Emulation BoosterPack, design is possible with any MCU, including the ultra-low-power MSP430™ LaunchPad. For customers who have not selected an MCU or wish to design quickly, software development can be performed on a PC using SimpleLink Studio with the CC3100 BoosterPack and Advanced Emulation BoosterPack.
