Optimized HMI for vehicle displays… Check ADAS and lifestyle information.
The new platform will be introduced in the 2027 model after undergoing a technical stabilization process.

A single chipset module (System on Chip, SoC) containing LG Electronics' infotainment system technology and Magna's ADAS and autonomous driving solutions is coming to the world.

LG Electronics announced on the 4th that it has developed an independent platform that integrates the In-Vehicle Infotainment System (IVI) and ADAS in collaboration with auto parts manufacturer Magna, and will present it to automakers at CES 2024.

It actively reflects the needs of automakers and users, including better vehicle experience, intuitive interface, efficient design, and cost reduction.

This platform integrates IVI, ADAS, and autonomous driving solutions into a single component, reducing the overall volume occupied by each component and thus saving space in the vehicle.

It also reduces costs compared to installing each system individually, and provides a safer and more efficient driving experience through real-time information sharing and faster data processing between systems.

Another advantage of this platform is the pillar-to-pillar system, which integrates three screens into one: the instrument cluster, the center information display (CID), and the passenger display (PD).This is an implementation of a human-machine interface (HMI) optimized for advanced automotive displays, such as the AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display), which shows visual information in 3D and 2D graphic images to help the driver keep their eyes on the road (P2P; Pillar-to-Pillar) display.

Drivers and passengers can check various ADAS information such as distance from the vehicle in front, lane departure, and other safety-related alerts, as well as detour routes depending on traffic conditions, through an optimized UI/UX on the car display, as well as useful lifestyle information such as promotional information for frequently visited stores.

LG Electronics is a global company in the IVI field that simultaneously provides various driving-related information and entertainment functions, including telematics and audio, video, and navigation (AVN).

Through this collaboration, the two companies expect to further solidify their influence in the IVI field, while also setting a milestone in addressing the automotive industry's pressing challenge of integrating various components within vehicles, thereby leading to market change.

Moreover, LG Electronics anticipates that the new integrated platform will play a key role in efficiently managing and controlling complex functions between systems as the next-generation infotainment technology required for SDV.

This platform is the result of a year of active collaboration between the two companies after discussing cooperation at CES 2023 last year.It's a fruit.

It is expected that it will be introduced in the 2027 model after going through a technological stabilization process.

LG Electronics plans to first showcase this platform to its automotive customers at CES 2024.

Meanwhile, the two companies are building a strong collaborative relationship by establishing a joint venture, ‘LG Magna e-Powertrain (hereinafter referred to as LG Magna)’ in 2021.

LG Magna is strengthening its growth momentum by starting full-scale operations at its production base in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, following Incheon, South Korea and Nanjing, China, late last year.
