Analog Devices ranked 50th this year, rising 42 positions from 92nd place in 2012, with no ranking published last year. The America's Greenest Companies ranking was first published in 2009 and evaluates the environmental performance of leading global companies. Rankings are determined based on publicly available data that includes eight environmental performance metrics: energy consumption, water conservation, waste and greenhouse gas productivity, environmental strategy, policy, management, and reputation.

Newsweek compared and evaluated 500 global companies, with assessments conducted under the supervision of an expert panel consisting of sustainability experts and others. Among the evaluated companies, technology hardware industry firms generally achieved high environmental scores.
