StageX is about to officially launch as the fourth mobile carrier.

Stage X (CEO Seo Sang-won) paid the frequency fees without delay on the 7th and disclosed the consortium list. Subsequently, Stage X announced that it would immediately complete the registration as a key telecommunications carrier.

Stage X planned a business capital of 200 billion won, and the funds secured at the launch stage were in the 50 billion won range.

StageX stated, “This is sufficient to cover frequency payments, office rent, and general operating expenses,” adding, “We will complete the planned overall capital expansion ahead of schedule and finish attracting 200 billion won in Series A investment needed for facility investment and the launch of innovative services before the service launch next year.” StageX reported that it has been in detailed discussions with multiple global investors since last April.

The StageX consortium consists of shareholders Stage Five, Yanolja, and Douzone Bizon, as well as partners Yonsei University Medical Center (Severance Hospital), KAIST, Intellian Technologies, Foxconn International Holdings, and Shinhan Investment & Securities. Each company collaborates closely as a financial, strategic investor, and business partner.

Stage Five is the lead company and largest shareholder of the consortium, playing a leading role in developing technologies and services essential to the telecommunications business. Stage Five focuses on cloudifying the core network required for 5G services. To this end, Stage X announced on the 2nd that it had formed a partnership with Japan's Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Symphony.

With Yanolja, 28GHz hotspots will be established centered around international airports. With Interpark Triple, hotspots will be established at K-POP and musical venues. With Douzone Bizon, enterprise-exclusive products will be jointly developed, and Yonsei University Medical Center and KAIST will participate as partners in a 28GHz-based innovative service demonstration project.

KAIST will jointly discover, demonstrate, and commercialize innovative services based on the 28GHz frequency. StageX will support the construction of a dedicated platform and program operation, while KAIST will be responsible for identifying key research projects and promoting services. In addition, Yonsei Medical Center (Severance Hospital) will discover smart medical services based on medical big data.

StageX announced plans to expand coverage to maritime and airspace areas, as well as nationwide services, by connecting mobile communication networks with satellite communication with Intellian Technologies. StageX stated, “We will innovate 6G technology and related industries based on communication infrastructure combined with satellites for UAM and autonomous driving.”

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Foxconn International Holdings plans to jointly plan, develop, and launch a mid-range device supporting the 28GHz band with StageX.

Shinhan Investment & Securities serves as the lead manager and advisor for Stage X's financing. Shinhan Investment & Securities, which joined Stage Five as an investor in September 2021, is preparing to raise funds through a fund method that takes into account the Financial Separation Act and other factors.
