BGF Group is embarking on full-scale domestic production of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid and strengthening its special gas materials business for semiconductors.

BGF Eco Materials, a materials division affiliate of BGF Group, announced on the 13th that it had approved investment in a domestic anhydrous hydrofluoric acid manufacturing facility.

This investment is being made through Fluorine Korea, a subsidiary of BGF Eco Materials, and it is known that approximately 150 billion won will be invested.

The plant has a production capacity of approximately 50,000 tons, and the plant will be located in Ulsan and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Anhydrous hydrofluoric acid is used as a raw material for hydrogen fluoride (HF) and as a key raw material for special gases for semiconductors, such as nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) and fluorine (F2).

Due to the risk of explosion and the supply of key raw materials such as fluorite, it was mainly produced in China and most of it was imported from China in Korea.

According to BGF Group, this investment is intended to secure the stability of Fluorine Korea's flagship product, high-purity F2, and further strengthen the semiconductor materials industry.
