Artesyn Embedded Technologies launches two new wide input DC-DC converters targeting power amplifier applications
The new AVO100 and AVO250 fully regulated eighth brick converters provide rated output power of up to 100 W and 250 W respectively.
Tempe, Arizona – November 4, 2014 – Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the launch of two new 1/8th brick DC-DC converter product families specifically designed for compact, high-density, low-power wireless power amplifier application systems.
The AVO100 and AVO250 series converters deliver maximum power output of 100 W and 250 W respectively, with output voltage ranges of 18 to 32.5 V specifications to meet power amplifier application requirements. These units accommodate a wide telecom standard input range of 36 to 75 Vdc. These units expand Artesyn's product portfolio developed with particular emphasis on radio frequency (RF) power amplifier applications. As evidenced in the recently announced AVD85, AVE product families and AGF800, these products focus on the low-power requirements of small cell systems.
These products feature excellent thermal performance with very high efficiency exceeding 93 percent and an operating range of -40 to 85 degrees, making them ideally suited for power supply applications in wireless communication systems where telecom equipment manufacturers and network operators demand maximum efficiency. The AVO250 provides maximum output current of 9 A, while the AVO100 provides maximum output of 3.57 A.
Artesyn's new AVO100 and AVO250 series converters incorporate various special features designed with ease of design and layout in mind, including wide input range, conduction cooling optimization, low ripple and noise, fixed switching frequency, high capacitive load capability, pre-bias start-up function, and remote output voltage sensing. All detailed models are mounted via through hole terminals.
The two new converters are protected against overcurrent, overheating and overvoltage conditions. The converter features an Enable pin on the primary side and remote sense and output voltage regulation functions on the secondary side. These products feature open frame or baseplate design with dimensions of 57.9 × 22.9 × 10.0 mm (2.28 × 0.9 × 0.394 inches), enabling industry standard eighth brick layout and pin configuration for optimal conduction or forced convection cooling.
