TI Korea (CEO Jaejin Kim, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) June 13, 2011 – TI announced the industry's first fully integrated lithium-ion battery management IC for supercapacitor charge control. This single device provides comprehensive features such as charge control management, capacitance and Effective Series Resistance (ESR) measurement, 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-series supercapacitor protection via individual capacitor control, or up to 9-series capacitor protection via stack control. The bq33100 dramatically increases ease of use while maximizing functionality and safety for supercapacitor applications, and also reduces the cost and size of the solution. Battery-backed write cache (BBWC) applications, system bridge power, and NVDIMM (Non-Volatile Dual In-line Memory) RAID controller cards require a reliable supercapacitor pack manager to ensure availability even in the event of a main power failure.
