Keysight Technologies is helping Samsung Semiconductor India Research Institute (SSIR) streamline and automate field-to-lab workflows with 5G solutions.

Samsung Semiconductor's Bengaluru Research Institute announced on the 23rd that it has adopted Keysight's Signaling Field-To-Lab (S-FTL) solution.

Keysight introduced the solution as “improving end-user quality of experience (QoE) by accelerating the reproduction, analysis, and resolution of 5G field issues in a test lab environment.”

To ensure the quality of 5G technology, users replicate complex field scenarios in a laboratory environment to identify feasible solutions. This process often involves analyzing field logs containing missing or erroneous data, making it a complex and time-consuming process.

Keysight provides mobile operators, device manufacturers, and chipmakers with efficient and reliable test automation solutions that quickly convert device field logs into accurately reproducible protocol sequences in the lab.

This will allow the lab to focus on intelligent test automation solutions and solving field problems.

SSIR selected Keysight's S-FTL solution, which can automatically generate test cases from device field logs. Based on the 5G Protocol R&D Toolset, this solution analyzes field logs for 5G/4G and IMS, makes protocol-based adjustments to ensure protocol-compliant behavior, and then replicates field scenarios into test scripts to automate the process. The S-FTL solution features open input log templates that accommodate a variety of formats, enabling faster integration into workflows.

With Keysight's S-FTL solution, SSIR was able to significantly reduce the time it took to replicate field scenarios in the lab, freeing engineers to spend more time improving end-user QoE. The solution helps solve a wide range of problems in real-world scenarios such as voice/data calls, handovers, 5G to 4G mobility, and carrier aggregation for deployments ranging from single SIM to dual SIM to dual connectivity.
