Xilinx, Aquantia Extend Existing Copper Cable Infrastructure Performance for Datacenters, Mobile, Enterprise, and Video Applications
Xilinx All Programmable Solutions and New Aquantia AQrate Technology Resolve Infrastructure Bottlenecks and Achieve Unprecedented Data Throughput
Xilinx Korea (Managing Director An Hung-sik) October 14, 2014 – Xilinx announced that it will extend existing copper cable infrastructure for datacenters, mobile, enterprise, and video applications in partnership with Aquantia, a leading provider of high-speed Ethernet connectivity solutions. Aquantia's recently announced AQrate product line enables data throughput five times higher than existing Gigabit Ethernet (GE) solutions without replacing copper cabling infrastructure. Through this technology, next-generation 2D/3D TORUS networks, 802.11ac wireless LAN access points (APs), enterprise switches, client devices, and other systems can operate at unprecedented speeds. Combined with Xilinx's All Programmable FPGA and IP portfolio, AQrate technology resolves mobile infrastructure bottlenecks and delivers comprehensive solutions across diverse applications.
Kamal Dalmia, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Aquantia, stated, "Through the deployment of Xilinx® FPGAs and IP, we can bring new and innovative solutions to market leveraging Aquantia's industry-leading AQrate technology."
Hemant Dhulla, Vice President of Wired Communications and Datacenters at Xilinx, said, "The programmable performance of Xilinx devices and IP enables rapid solution implementation using Aquantia's AQrate technology to deliver Ethernet data at 2.5 and 5 gigabits per second (2.5GbE and 5GbE) over Cat 5e cable up to 100 meters," and added, "This new technology further expands the breadth of solutions Xilinx can provide to the market and enables greater utilization of our industry-leading 7 Series and Ultrascale™ device families."
