[Editor's Note] This magazine covers university IT clubs, exploring student activities and the unique characteristics of these clubs. Through relay interviews, we aim to shed light on the clubs' unique characteristics, activities, and goals. KHLUG is an IT club at Kyung Hee University's International Campus, conducting research and development on all aspects of IT technology and related fields. The magazine asked Park Jeong-sik, a student in charge of internal affairs at Kurug, about Kurug's activities and goals.

■ Introducing the Kyung Hee University IT Club, Krug

Founded in 1999, KHLUG serves as the center of Kyung Hee University's ICT cluster and conducts research and development activities on all IT technologies and related fields.

■ Advantages of Kurugman

Kurug has its own homepage.

On this website, you can record the activities of each group, reserve the use of club rooms, and apply for support for group activity supplies.

Thanks to this, it is convenient to share each other's activities, and you can use it like a portfolio to look up what you have done later.

There is no need to fill out separate documents, and there is no need to limit the time at which a group can be created. So, whenever an idea comes to mind, you can create a group with just a few clicks.

In conclusion, thanks to the website, Kurug can get one step closer to a free atmosphere.

The course covers 14 different IT-related fields.

Therefore, there are no limitations to the area of interest.;

Sometimes I'm surprised and think, "Are there people who are interested in this?"

By not limiting your interests in this way, you can engage in activities that are closer to what you want, even with people who like relatively less popular fields.

Because Krug pursues a free atmosphere, we always welcome people from all fields, as long as they are related to IT.

■ Kurug's activities

Every year, Krug hosts Khuthon, the largest hackathon at Kyung Hee University.

The program is produced based on a given topic over two days and one night, and members of the Krug can participate in the competition or run the competition themselves by participating as staff.

The previous competition, Khuthon 2024, was held in May, and 143 students from seven universities formed teams and created software on the theme of 'environment'.

Kurug is active as a group.

Each group of one or more people conducts studies, projects, or research activities based on their respective topics.

Groups can be created at any time, and groups that complete their activities will present at the seminar that semester.

There are no restrictions on the group's activities, allowing for creative and free activities.

Meanwhile, students who are new to IT may find it difficult to engage in group activities right away, so educational groups are run under the leadership of the management team.

Each semester, we offer one basic programming language course and two specialized courses.>
Specialized training varies each semester. In the first semester of 2024, we covered algorithms, and last year, we covered information security and 3D modeling.

The goal of educational activities is to teach beyond the theoretical level to a level where practical application is possible, based on major subjects.

Meanwhile, Kurug is participating in the SUSC, a student union.

SUSC is an IT club federation that was launched early last year by the union of IT clubs from six universities, including Krug.

Currently, more than 20 universities are participating.

The association holds regular exchange meetings every vacation.

At Kurug, we also participate in these activities and conduct studies under the mentorship of industry experts.

Within the Krug, many students are interested in participating because even in fields where people do not gather or in specialized fields, when several universities join forces, people gather.

■ Memorable club activities

I became interested in learning about reversing and assembly in an information security lecture held in my first year of club activities.

The fact that club members could share their knowledge with each other was especially exciting, and it became a starting point for building skills and knowledge.

I have been steadily building up my knowledge of algorithms, which I was most interested in, and was able to teach a course last semester.

After the lecture, I felt a sense of accomplishment when I heard that the content was very informative and useful.

During the preparation process for the explanation, I was able to study the concepts that were vague and grow together.I would like to continue sharing knowledge in the future.

■ What I want to achieve in Krug

Krug is college life itself.

It is the place where I have invested the most since I entered school, and it has also had a great influence on my identity.

I want to continue to grow and learn through Krug.

College is a very serious place.

A place that is both exciting and unfamiliar, a place of endless possibilities and some fear, yet relatively safe.

Here, I want to invent myself and learn how to live with others for a better life and society.

I think a club is the best place to achieve this.

I want to gain more experience at Krug and build a foundation for my own continued growth in the future, and I also want to provide a foundation that can be of help to future club members.

We hope that many members of Krug will participate in creating a world where dreams unfold through coding and a future built through programming.
