Lam Research Korea Supports Scholarships for Semiconductor-Related Field Talent
Lam Research Korea (CEO Seo In-hak) October 23, 2014 – Lam Research Korea, a leading company in the semiconductor equipment industry, announced that it will participate this year in the 'Semiconductor Scholarship' program conducted through the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association. The 'Semiconductor Scholarship' program, now in its 9th year, was designed with the aim of enhancing the semiconductor industry and corporate image through support for talent development in semiconductor-related fields, and operates on a voluntary participation basis by companies wishing to provide scholarship support.
In line with this purpose, Lam Research Korea has shared this vision and has consistently provided continuous support for semiconductor-related talent every year since 2007, and has donated scholarships worth 20 million won this year as well. The semiconductor scholarship certificate award ceremony will be held today, October 23rd, at 5 p.m. at 63 City in Yeouido, concurrent with the Semiconductor Day event, and Vice President Kim Sung-ho of Lam Research Korea, along with personnel and marketing representatives, are planned to attend the scholarship award ceremony.
Lam Research Korea CEO Seo In-hak stated, "I believe that cultivating excellent talent to lead the next-generation semiconductor industry is the most important aspect in the development of the semiconductor industry," and added, "Based on this thinking, Lam Research Korea will continue to support not only our employees but also the development of future talent, thereby widely promoting the importance of the semiconductor industry and establishing a foundation for these talents to fully demonstrate their capabilities."
The 'Semiconductor Scholarship' program administered by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association is conducted annually targeting engineering and science students in semiconductor-related fields who are about to advance to the 4th year of university or the 2nd year of graduate school as excellent talent who will lead the next-generation semiconductor industry in the future. In addition to this scholarship support program, Lam Research Korea operates various programs for talent development including undergraduate/graduate student thesis contests, university semiconductor textbook donation programs, internship programs, and industry-university research projects.
