Approtium, Korea's largest commercial hydrogen production and sales company, is transforming into a zero-accident company through continuous improvement of its emergency response system.

Approtium announced on the 11th that it conducted a joint emergency response training exercise across the company.

This training focused on improving emergency response procedures for fires caused by ammonia and hydrogen leaks, enhancing the emergency response capabilities of each employee through mock training, and increasing cooperation and response capabilities in the event of an actual situation.

The training, which was conducted with the participation of Approtium headquarters executives and staff, was conducted assuming actual fire and chemical accident situations that could occur.

In particular, not only Approtium executives and staff, but also Jangsaengpo 119 Safety Center, ESG evaluation agencies, and companies near the petrochemical complex attended as observers and observed the training.

During the training, we reviewed emergency response procedures that reflect actual situations, such as having a response team immediately dispatched to control the scene when an accident occurs and communicating the situation through hotlines with internal and external organizations.

Approtium plans to improve emergency response capabilities by analyzing training videos and sharing feedback with employees, and in the future, it will utilize VR (virtual reality) technology to conduct emergency training repeatedly without time or space constraints in a realistic field setting.We are planning to introduce a training program.

The Chief Safety Officer (CSO) of Approtium stated, “Through this training, we were able to thoroughly inspect our emergency response system and secure further strengthened response capabilities.” He added, “In the future, we will continue to strengthen our employees’ emergency response capabilities through regular, practical training to prevent accidents and achieve a workplace with ‘zero’ major accidents.”

Meanwhile, Aprotium is a company that originated from Deokyang, a local company in Ulsan. Since being acquired by its shareholder, Macquarie Asset Management Group (MAM), in December 2021, it has continuously invested in safety diagnosis and facilities, work environment improvement, and safety education, strengthening its disaster response system and securing an advanced safety response system for each disaster type. As a result of such continuous safety investment, it received an S grade in the Process Safety Management (PSM) evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in June 2023, and was recognized as a workplace that is safe from major industrial accidents.
