Analog Devices Simplifies Connection Between Wide Dynamic Range GSPS Data Converters and FPGAs with Release of High-Speed Prototyping Kit
– Includes hardware and software that accelerates time from prototyping to production with ADI’s prototyping kits and FPGA platforms such as Xilinx® Ultrascale™ and Zynq®.
November 18, 2014 – Analog Devices ( www.analog.com , NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, announced a high-speed prototyping kit that simplifies the connectivity between wide dynamic range GSPS data converters and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Using the AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ high-speed prototyping kit, digital and analog designers can rapidly prototype connections between high-speed JEDEC JESD204B SerDes (serial-to-non-serial converters) GSPS data converters and FPGAs on major FPGA platforms. These FPGA platforms include Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs and Zinq All Programmable SoC devices, which are suitable for data acquisition applications such as radar, instrumentation, and wireless radio. A video of the AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ high-speed prototyping kit is available at the following link. http://videos.analog.com/video/products/3726581576001/AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ-Wideband-RF-DAQ-Rapid-Prototyping-FMC-Module/
"The AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ FMC module provides up to 2 GHz of available analog bandwidth via a JESD204B interface, enabling Xilinx customers to rapidly prototype a wide range of broadband RF applications. High-level DSP performance provided by Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs and Zynq All Programmable SoC devices is essential for implementing these diverse broadband RF applications. Therefore, Xilinx has also incorporated this module into its upcoming Kintex UltraScale DSP kit."
The AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ is an in-FMC form factor prototyping system that reduces design risks associated with broadband RF signal processing systems, in addition to providing time advantages for verifying hardware, processing algorithms, and accelerating the transition from prototyping to production. Thanks to the AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ's performance, bandwidth, and integrated functionality, designers can achieve superior signal acquisition performance in complex RF environments by receiving industry-leading dynamic range and noise performance across the largest bandwidths ever.
The AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ provides a tested reference design for ultra-high-speed data converters, driver amplifiers, clocks, power management ICs, and more. In addition, this includes hardware description language (HDL) code, device drivers, eye analyzer tools, and online support from ADI's EngineerZone™ online technical support community.
About the AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ High-Speed Prototyping Kit
The AD-FMCDAQ2-EBZ high-speed prototyping kit includes an onboard AD9680 dual-channel, 14-bit, 1GSPS A/D converter. When converting a 1GHz input, the A/D converter has a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 80dBc and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 61.4dBFS, while the total power consumption per channel is only 1.65W.
The D/A converter included in the kit is the 4-channel, 16-bit, 2.8 GSPS AD9144, which can be connected to two channels of the converter on the board. The AD9144 features an SFDR of 82 dBc, a maximum sample rate of 2.8 GSPS, and is capable of generating multiple frequencies up to the maximum Nyquist frequency.
The AD9523-1 low-jitter clock generator provides low-voltage, multiple-output, and clock distribution capabilities with low jitter performance, as well as on-chip PLL and VCO with two VCO dividers.
