The Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators are selected based on patent data analyzing patent registration success rate, impact of inventions, global reach, and total patent applications filed over the past five years.

l The top 100 global innovators spent approximately USD 208 billion in R&D in 2013, representing an increase of nearly 17% in total R&D expenditure compared to the same period of the previous year.
