Chipset samples supplied to major optical module manufacturers; optical engine development underway

TI Korea (Chief Executive Officer Kent Chon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) December 4, 2014 – TI (Chief Executive Officer Kent Chon) announced that it is supplying samples of its 0.47-inch TRP Full HD 1080p chipset, applicable to video and data displays, to a third-party developer network. Based on DLP Cinema® technology whose performance has been proven through use in more than 8 out of every 10 digital cinemas worldwide, this 0.47-inch TRP Full HD 1080p chipset is an ultra-compact chipset that enables brighter and more efficient Full HD resolution implementation in small electronics. It is applicable to various applications including mobile beam projectors powered by battery or AC power, screenless TVs, control panels, interactive displays, and wearable devices such as near-eye displays. Key features of the 0.47-inch TRP Full HD 1080p display chipset

Third-party ecosystem companies are currently developing optical engines incorporating the 0.47-inch TRP Full HD 1080p chipset. Availability and packaging

The 0.47-inch TRP Full HD 1080p display chipset will be available for sample purchase from the TI Store starting in the first half of 2015 for testing purposes, with bulk purchases available through authorized TI distributors. The chipset consists of the DLP4710 digital micromirror device supplied in a 100-pin FQL package, the DLPC3439 supplied in a 201-pin VFBGA package, and the DLPA3005 supplied in a 100-pin HTQFP package.
