December 18, 2014 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-gwak) announced the launch of the LTM4625, a 5A, 20VIN step-down µModule® (micromodule) in a 6.25mm x 6.25mm x 5.01mm BGA package that fits precisely into 0.5cm² on double-sided PCB with minimal passive components. Like other µModule regulators, the LTM4625 integrates the DC/DC controller, power switches, inductor, and compensation components in a single package. For operation, only two external ceramic capacitors (1206 case size) and one resistor (0603 case size) are required. The LTM4625 operates from 4V to 20V input power and provides regulated output adjustable between 0.6V and 5.5V with ±1.5% accuracy across line, load, and temperature.

The LTM4625 operates at a user-adjustable switching frequency in the range of 800kHz to 4MHz or can be synchronized to an external clock in the range exceeding 1.3MHz from 700kHz. The module can also output signals out of phase at the same frequency with selectable phase shifts (90°, 120°, or 180°), which is useful when multiple LTM4625 modules are paralleled for higher output current. With an additional external bias supply of 4V or higher, the LTM4625 can operate at lower input voltages down to 2.375V. Output overvoltage, overcurrent, and over-temperature error protection functions are included in the regulator.

The LTM4625 is available with guaranteed operation across an internal temperature range of –40°C to 125°C. The µModule regulator is now available immediately and is priced at $6.45 per unit based on a quantity of 1,000 units. For more information, refer to www.linear.com/product/LTM4625참조.
