The LT8709 operates over an input voltage range of –4.5V to –80V and can generate output voltages as high as –0.1V to 60V or as low as –1.4V to –80V. The device's rail-to-rail output current monitor and control allow it to be configured as a current source. The LT8709 provides an innovative EN/FBIN pin circuit for slowly varying input signals and adjustable low-voltage lockout functionality. This pin is used for input voltage regulation to prevent high impedance power supplies from collapsing.

The fixed operating frequency can be selected from 100kHz to 750kHz and can be synchronized to an external clock. Current mode control provides excellent line and load regulation. The LT8709 can be configured in two operating modes for light load conditions: forced continuous or pulse-skipping mode. Additional features include a power good indicator, thermal shutdown, and integrated soft-start circuitry.
