ST has added six new chips to its entry-level 32-bit STM32F0 Value line, covering both 8-bit and 16-bit application markets. These new additions offer the advantage of shortening time-to-market and increasing efficiency for customers by enabling broader utilization of the same microcontroller architecture. All of the newly added products provide broader access to the STM32 portfolio, meaning users can utilize the entire range of over 600 products, as well as ARM Cortex-M cores and various development support formats.

The new STM32F030CC and STM32F030RC value line chips feature 256KB of program flash and are available in 48-pin or 64-pin LQFP packages. The USB 2.0 Full Speed interface is available in a total of four new STM32F070 Value Line products, compatible with Battery Charger Detection (BCD v 1.2) and Link Power Management (LPM), providing optimal performance in power efficiency and battery life.

These new additions further enhance the powerful capabilities of the STM32F0 Value line, enabling access to built-in safety features, a precise internal oscillator, multiple clock sources, and a calendar real-time clock (RTC) with periodic wake-up functions in alarm and standby modes. In addition, it is equipped with a 5-channel DMA controller, an internal voltage regulator, and a 12-bit/1.0μs analog-to-digital converter (ADC), along with various communication capabilities such as two I2C interfaces, six USARTs, and two SPIs.

The new STM32F0 Value Line microcontroller is currently available as a sample and is scheduled for mass production in the first quarter of 2015. The STM32F070F6P6, featuring 32KB of flash and USB support, is available in a TSSOP20 package and is priced starting at 57 cents per 10,000 units upon order.

New products can leverage the entire software and hardware ecosystem of the STM32F0. The NUCLEO-F70RB, available for $10.32, enables rapid evaluation and access to the development community for prototyping. It is also compatible with various application expansion boards currently on the market. Using the STM32CubeMX configuration tool, device configuration can be completed in just seconds. STM32CubeMX can generate initialization C-code and automatically download STM32CubeF0 embedded software. Thanks to this embedded software, migration to other STM32 products is very convenient, and you can also select the STM32F0 standard peripheral library or optimized STM32F0Snippets. All STM32F0 peripherals are included, ranging from simple RTCs to full USB stacks with multiple classes.
